왕이(王毅) 중국 외교담당 국무위원 겸 외교부장이 다음 달 방한(訪韓)할 것으로 24일 알려졌다. 외교부 당국자는 "(왕이 부장의) 조속한 방한 필요성에 대해 양국이 공감하고 있다"면서 "구체적 방한 일정을 현재 조율 중"이라고 말했다. 왕 부장은 방한해 다음 달 말 중국에서 개최되는 한·중·일 3국 정상회의 관련 사전 협의를 하고 시진핑(習近平) 중국 국가주석의 방한 문제도 논의할 것으로 보인다.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is expected to visit Seoul next month, it was reported on November 24th. "The two countries agree on the need for Wang Yi to visit South Korea as soon as possible," a Foreign Ministry official said. "We are currently coordinating a detailed schedule for the visit to South Korea.” Wang will visit Seoul and hold prior consultations on the trilateral (between Japan-South Korea-China) summit to be held in China late next month. He is also expected to discuss Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit.
왕 부장이 방한한다면 2015년 3월 이후 4년 반 만이다. 그는 2016년 사드(THAAD) 보복 조치인 한한령(한류 규제)을 개시한 이후 한국에 온 적이 없다. 이번 방한으로 한한령이 해제·완화되는 계기가 될 수 있을지 주목된다. 외교 소식통에 따르면, 왕 부장은 이번 방한에서 강경화 외교장관, 문재인 대통령을 예방할 계획인 것으로 알려졌다. 정부는 올해 6월 시 주석의 방한을 적극 추진했지만, 화웨이 사태 등 미·중 무역 전쟁 등 여파로 성사되지 못했다. 정부는 내년 4월 총선 전에 시 주석의 방한을 추진하려는 계획인 것으로 알려졌다.
If Wang visits Seoul, it will be the first time in four and a half years since March 2015. He has never been to South Korea since he started the Hanhanryeong (한한령), retaliatory (economic sanctions) measure against (South Korea) for installation of the U.S. missile defense system in 2016. Attention is focusing on whether this visit will help lift or ease the Hanhanryeong (한한령) economics sanctions imposed on South Korea by China. According to diplomatic sources, Wang will visit with South Korean President Moon and South Korean Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-hwa. The South Korean government is actively pushing for Xi's visit to Seoul in June of this year, but failed to make it due to the U.S.-China trade war, including the Huawei incident. The government reportedly plans to push for Xi's visit before the general elections next April.
