(베이징=연합뉴스) 김윤구 특파원 = 미국이 신종 코로나바이러스 감염증(코로나19) 사태를 빌미로 중국의 이익을 해친다면 중국은 반드시 단호히 보복할 것이라고 중국 관영 환구시보가 소식통을 인용해 24일 보도했다. 이 소식통은 미국 일부 정치인이 코로나19와 관련해 줄곧 중국에 배상 책임을 묻겠다고 하고 있으며 도널드 트럼프 미국 대통령은 중국이 대가를 치르게 하겠다고 큰소리쳤다면서 "황당하기 그지없는 일"이라고 비난했다. 그는 이어 코로나19가 중국 우한(武漢)이 아닌 다른 외국 도시에서 시작됐을 수 있다고 주장했다.

또 꼭 책임을 추궁해야 한다면 후천성면역결핍증(AIDS·에이즈)과 신종인플루엔자(H1NI) 발병의 책임을 먼저 묻는 것이 마땅하다고 덧붙였다. 소식통은 "미국이 궁지에 몰려 이판사판으로 코로나19를 빌미로 중국의 이익을 훼손하는 행동을 하면 중국은 기필코 단호히 반격할 것"이라고 경고했다. 그는 "미국 정객들은 행동하기 전에 심사숙고해서 돌로 제 발등을 찍는 일은 피하는 게 좋을 것"이라고 말했다.
The Chinese source added, "If China must be held accountable for COVID-19, we should first ask who is accountable for AIDS and H1N1. If the U.S. acts to undermine China's interests under the pretext of COVID-19, China will surely strike back firmly. It would be better for American politicians to think carefully before they act and avoid stoning their own feet."
