With most South Korean cultural festivals canceled due to COVID-19, this forum, held live on YouTube on August 6th from 1500-1630 amid difficulties in the local economy and related industries, will diagnose the crisis situation of the festival and discuss various response strategies tailored to the changing environment, including non-face-to-face festivals and daily festivals.

 Presentations: Chuncheon Mime Festival, Boryeong Mud Festival and expert discussion
In the first panel, Kim Duk-jin, vice president of the Korea Site Research Institute, will present the current state of cultural festivals in South Korea and the changed perspective viewed with big data, while Kim Hyung-gon, a professor at Sejong University, will present an analysis of the cultural festival crisis and trends at home and abroad. Kang Young-kyu, general director of Chuncheon Mime Festival, and Lee Yong-yeol, secretary general of Boryeong Festival Tourism Foundation, will then share new attempts and efforts of Chuncheon Mime Festival and Boryeong Mud Festival under the COVID-19 situation through specific examples.

In the second part of the comprehensive debate, Lee Hoon, senior vice president of the Korea Tourism Association (Professor at Hanyang University), will be the host, and Choi Bo-geun, director of the tourism policy bureau at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Lee In-jae, professor at Gachon University, Yoon Sung-jin, general director of the Gangmongtang Festival, Kang Young-kyu, general director of the Chuncheon Mime Festival, and Hwang Hee-jung, and Hwang will participate in the discussion of strategies and policy directions.
