미국의 홍콩인권법 제정에 대해 홍콩시민들이 대규모 감사 집회를 연 반면, 중국은 이틀째 미국을 맹비난했습니다. 미국매체는 '홍콩인권법' 제정이 타결 직전에 온 '미중무역협상'을 멈추게 하지는 않을 것으로 전망했습니다. 베이징 안양봉 특파원입니다.
People in Hong Kong have held a massive audit rally over the legislation of the Hong Kong Human Rights Act, while China has lashed out at the United States for a second day. U.S. media have predicted that the Hong Kong Human Rights Act will not stop the U.S.-China trade talks, which are on the verge of reaching a settlement. I'm the correspondent in Beijing, Anyangbong.

한밤 중 홍콩 도심에 미국 국가가 울려 퍼집니다. 광장을 메운 10만여 명의 시민들은 미국의 홍콩인권법 제정에 감사의 뜻을 밝혔습니다.
In the middle of the night, the U.S. national anthem is heard in downtown Hong Kong. The 100,000 citizens who filled the square thanked the United States for the enactment of the Hong Kong Human Rights Act.

사흘 새 두번이나 주중 미국대사를 초치한 중국은 오늘도 미국을 맹비난했습니다. 중국공산당 기관지 인민일보는 '어떤 위협도 중국 인민을 무너뜨릴 수 없다'는 논평에서 홍콩을 지키려는 우리 결심을 과소평가하지 말라고 경고했습니다. 홍콩인권법 제정 미국 의원들의 중국 입국 금지를 시사한 중국 외교부는 오늘도 "반드시 반격할 것"이라고 밝혔습니다.
China, which has invited the U.S. ambassador to China twice in three days, today lashed out at the U.S. The People's Daily, the official newspaper of the Communist Party of China, warned against underestimating our resolve to protect Hong Kong in the following comment: "no threat can bring down the Chinese people." China's Foreign Ministry says it will "make a counterattack" again today, as U.S. lawmakers have hinted at banning Chinese nationals from entering the country.

하지만 엄포와 달리 미국매체들은 중국이 타결 직전인 무역협상을 깨지는 못할 것으로 전망했습니다. "중국에 의미있는 보복 옵션이 없다"는 점을 들며, 외교부와 달리 중국 상무부가 침묵하는 것도 이런 이유 때문이라고 분석했습니다. 이런 가운데 선거 압승으로 기세를 탄 홍콩 야당과 재야단체가 다시 총공세를 예고했습니다. 홍콩재야단체연합은 다음달 8일 대규모 집회를 열고, 24시간 안에 홍콩정부가 5대 요구를 수용하지 않을 경우 다시 전면적인 3파 투쟁에 돌입할 것이라고 밝혔습니다.
However, contrary to a bluff, U.S. media have predicted that China will not break the trade deal that is about to be concluded. "There is no meaningful retaliatory option for China." Unlike the Foreign Ministry, China's Commerce Ministry is silent for this reason. Hong Kong's opposition parties and opposition groups, which have been riding high in the wake of the landslide election victory, have again warned of a general strike. The Hong Kong Federation will hold a massive rally on December 8. If the Hong Kong government does not accept the five demands within 24 hours, it will launch another full-scale three-way struggle.
