조국 전 법무부 장관이 15일 서울대 교수로 복직했다는 사실이 알려지자 학생 온라인 커뮤니티에서 ‘찬반(찬성·반대)’ 투표를 진행하고 있다.

After former Minister of Justice Minister Cho Kuk’s reinstatement as a professor at Seoul National University was announced on Wednesday, university students held an online referendum; a simple "yes” or “no" vote for his reinstatement.

서울대 동문 온라인 커뮤니티 '스누라이프'에는 이날 오후 2시 7분 "조국 복직 찬반투표"라는 게시물이 올라왔다. 이 게시물은 올라온 지 2시간여 만에 4300명이 넘는 조회 수를 기록하고 1300명이 넘는 학생이 투표에 참여했다. 설문조사는 오는 11월 14일까지 진행될 예정이다.

The online community of Seoul National University alumni, "Snowlife," posted the online referendum at 2:07 p.m. for Cho Kuk’s reinstatement as a professor. Within two hours, 4300 people viewed the post and 1300 voted. The survey will run until November 14th.

이날 오후 4시 30분 기준 조국 전 장관의 서울대 복직은 찬성한다는 의견은 단 1%(21명)뿐이었다. 반대한다는 의견은 무려 96%(1263명)에 달했다. '글쎄...'를 선택한 학생도 1%(22명) 있었다.

As of 4:30 p.m. today, only 1 percent (21 people) said they approve of former Justice Minister Cho Kuk's reinstatement at Seoul National University. 96 percent, or 1,263 people, oppose it. There were also 1% (22 students) who chose "I’m not sure..."

서울대 측에 따르면 조 전 장관은 14일 사표가 수리된 후 법과대학에 복직 관련 서류를 보냈다고 한다. 15일 오전 대학 본부 차원에서 승인했고 이로써 조 전 장관의 서울대 복직 절차는 완료됐다. 복직 절차는 허가 절차가 아닌 신고 절차이기 때문에 승인 과정만 거치면 된다.

According to Seoul National University, Cho sent documents regarding his reinstatement to the law school after his resignation was submitted on Friday. Cho's reinstatement to Seoul National University was approved by the university's headquarters on the morning of the 15th. Because the reinstatement procedure is a reporting procedure, not a licensing procedure, only the approval process is required.

조 전 장관의 복직 서류 전달은 사표 수리 후 20여분 만에 이루어진 것으로 알려졌다. 서울대 관계자는 “정확한 시간은 확인할 수 없지만 6시 퇴근 시간 직후 관련 서류가 넘어온 것으로 안다”고 했다. 문재인 대통령은 14일 오후 5시 40분쯤 조 전 장관의 면직안을 재가했다.

The delivery of Cho's reinstatement documents was reportedly made about 20 minutes after the resignation was accepted. An official at Seoul National University said, "We cannot confirm the exact time, but we understand that the related documents were passed, at the end of the workday, after 6 p.m.” President Moon Jae-in, on the 14th at 5:40 pm, approved the minister's dismissal.

조 전 장관의 복직 여부는 서울대 학생들에게 큰 관심사였다. 복직 사실이 알려지자마자 스누라이프 베스트게시물 게시판에는 관련 게시물이 많이 올라왔다. 이 게시판은 추천을 많이 받은 게시물이 모이는 곳이다.

Whether Cho will be reinstated or not has been of great concern to SNU students. As soon as the news of his reinstatement was made public, many related comments were posted on the ‘Snowlife’s Best’ online bulletin board; this board is where the highly recommended posts populate.

학생들은 과거 청와대 민정수석으로 일한 뒤 복직하는 과정에서 논란을 겪은 조 전 장관이 빠르게 복직했다는 사실에 놀라는 분위기였다. 게시판에는 조 전 장관의 복직을 알리는 기사를 인용한 게시물이 여러 개 올라왔다.

Students were surprised that former Justice Minister Cho, who, after working as senior presidential secretary for civil affairs, recently experienced controversy in his appointment to minister, was able to so quickly return to his post. Several posts were posted on the bulletin board citing an article announcing Cho's reinstatement.

댓글에는 “대단하다 진짜” “이건 진짜 학생, 동문이 나서서 막아야 한다” 등 반응이 달렸다. “자기 부인 아프다고 사퇴한 사람이 자동차 문 쾅! 하며 재가 되기 전에 퇴근하더니 복직 신청한 건가”라고 비판한 댓글에는 가장 많은 186명이 공감을 보냈다

The comments were as follows: “Really Great (sarcasm)!” and “Students and Alumni must stand up and block this!” and “He said his wife is sick and as soon as he resigned and shut the door to his car he has already applied for another job.” This is last criticism was ‘liked’ 186 times.

교수로 복직한 게 아니라 법학전문대학원에 원서를 낸 것이라고 돌려 비판한 게시물도 있었다. 한 학생은 “조국은 복직 신청할 게 아니라 LEET(법학전문 대학원 시험) 준비해서 입학 신청해야…. 무슨 염치로 교수하려고”라는 의견을 올렸다. 익명의 학생은 “조국 전 민정수석 우리 학교 로스쿨 지원했다면서요?”라는 게시물을 올리며 “법무부 장관 인턴 35일이라는 막강한 스펙이 있으니 채용 확정이겠죠?”라고 적었다.

There was also a post that criticized him by saying that he did not return to his post as a professor, but that he had submitted his application to the law school. One student said, "In my country, you have to prepare for a law graduate exam (LEET) and then apply for admission…by what honor are you going to be a professor?” An anonymous student also wrote, “Former Minister Cho I heard you applied to our law school? Since you have an impressive “Speck” of 35 days as the Justice Minister, I think you got the job.”
